Building a House

I discovered the Monolithic Dome Institute via a post at MetaFilter. I’ve heard of geodesic dome houses before, but these monolithic domes made from reinforced concrete are new to me. They are being built by blowing up a huge balloon and spraying it with insulation and concrete from the inside. The site offers articles on and photos of some dome homes. For example, see the Eye of The Storm, Cloud Hidden, or Yumadome, home of several families.

Summer

After weeks of too cold and rainy weather, summer has arrived! We’ve had temperatures close to 30°C (85°F) for a couple of days now, and I’ve been able to enjoy the weather because I finished my thesis a week ago and didn’t have to go to school on Thursday (Ascension Day) and Friday (Brückentag, as Papa Scott called it).

But funny how a four-day weekend still can seem too short…
