Mathe kann man be-greifen

Heute waren wir spontan in der Ausstellung Mathematik zum Anfassen. Wider Erwarten war es gar nicht sooo voll, so daß man auch selbst alles anfassen und ausprobieren konnte. Einige Exponate und Experimente kannte ich schon, viele waren auch mir neu. Am besten gefallen hat mir die Leonardo-Brücke, die da Vinci entworfen hat. Sie hält ganz ohne Leim oder Schrauben! Ein nettes Geduldsspiel ist, diese Brücke mit Streichhölzern zu bauen.

Am meisten Spaß hat es gemacht, mit Polydron (Achtung Flash) zu spielen. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Stecksystem von Dreiecken, Quadraten, Fünfecken und Sechsecken aus Kunststoff, mit denen man sehr vielseitig bauen kann – vom Leuchtturm bis zum platonischen Körper (siehe Fotos). Gerne würde ich mir ja so ein Köfferchen voll Spielzeug kaufen, aber es ist leider nicht ganz billig…

Als nächster Museumsbesuch steht übrigens die Ausstellung Prominente in der Werbung im Haus der Geschichte an. Da weiß man, was man hat.

Im Deutschen Museum Bonn ist die Ausstellung von Mai bis Dezember 2002 zu sehen, während man eine kleinere Version der Ausstellung noch bis zum 23. März im Deutschen Museum in München sehen kann.

Noch bis zum 3. Februar gibt es eine sehr sehenswerte Ausstellung im Deutschen Museum Bonn: Mathematik zum Anfassen. Die Ausstellung, die durch Deutschland wandert und bald auch ein festes Zuhause in Gießen bekommen soll, findet man im Internet unter www.math.de. Nach dem Kolloquiumsvortrag des Initiators Albrecht Beutelspacher hier in Bonn zu urteilen, ist die Ausstellung unbedingt sehenswert. Und falls Bonn zu weit weg ist, lohnt ein Blick auf die weiteren Ausstellungsorte (aus dem Frame verlinkt). Ich werde auf jeden Fall in den nächsten Tagen mal vorbeischauen.

Weekend Trip

Last Sunday, André and I went to the Mosel, a curvy river about an hour south of Bonn. It is a well-known region where wine is grown. The Mosel meets the Rhine in Koblenz. I put up a few photos with explanations here.

Heute kam die neue c’t ins Haus geflattert. Und wen finde ich da unter Websites aktuell? Den Schockwellenreiter! Schade, daß es nur eine kurze Notiz über Weblogs ist. Hatte die c’t eigentlich schon mal einen Artikel über Weblogs? Ich kann mich momentan nur an einen psychologisch angehauchten Artikel über Online-Tagebücher erinnern. Und natürlich an den Weblog-Artikel in der Zeit 31/2001: Intime Notizen für alle.

Baby, it’s cold outside

Note to self: Even if it is above freezing, there may still be ice on the streets in some spots. It’s not advisable to ride your bike too fast, or you will be find yourself lying on the ground at the first corner.

I think it’s been ages since I fell off my bike the last time. My knee hurts, but I’m okay now. André and I postponed the day trip we had planned for today. I think I will be able to walk properly again tomorrow, so if the weather isn’t too bad, we will go tomorrow.
