Riesenblume

Beim Schockwellenreiter stand es schon: Im Botanischen Garten Bonn blüht mal wieder ein Titanenwurz. Sogar der Spiegel berichtet: Bonner Titanenwurz soll Rekord brechen.

Das letzte Mal blühte ein Titanenwurz vor fast drei Jahren; Fotos und einen kurzen Bericht von unserem Besuch im Botanischen Garten gibt es hier. André und ich waren damals aber ein oder zwei Tage nach dem höchsten Blütenstand dort; dafür brauchten wir dann auch nicht stundenlang anzustehen und den nicht sehr angenehmen Geruch ertragen.

Personal

One week to go before I have to hand in my thesis. And just in time I got this darned cold. My throat is the colour of a London doubledecker bus, and my paranasal sinuses feel like they’ve swollen to twice their size. Okay, enough complaining already. I’m going to take a quick nap before going back to work on the thesis.

André made a big pot of chili con carne today (ain’t I lucky? ), and this reminded me of the Chili Con Carne thread on MetaFilter a couple of days ago. Some people posted their chili recipes, too.
