New toy computer

Since Duncan has let the cat out of the bag: yes, it’s my birthday, and you can see what I got on the pictures to the right. After more than six years, I thought it was high time for a new computer, so I’ve bought this one. And yes, I like it a lot!

I had planned for André and me to go on a little bike tour today, but since the weather is not cooperating, I’ll spend a lazy day at home. Maybe a friend is going to drop by tonight.

But don’t forget it’s not only my birthday today:

Karten und Luftbilder

Karten und Straßenpläne von (fast) ganz Europa findet man bei Map24. Man gibt einfach eine Adresse oder eine Start- und einen Zieladresse ein und erhält den passenden Kartenausschnitt.

Wer es gern etwas fotorealistischer mag: Deutschland aus der Luft hat flächendeckende Luftbilder von über 120 deutschen Städten. Man kann nicht nur ‘rein- und ‘rauszoomen, sondern auch nach Straßen suchen, die Straßennamen einblenden, einen bestimmten Ausschnitt wählen, sondern auch mit der Maus Entfernungen abmessen. Der Kölner Dom, rechts im Bild, ist übrigens über 100 m lang und 75 m breit!

Und weil wir alle wissen, daß Mallorca das heimliche siebzehnte Bundesland ist, gibt’s auch die Balearen aus der Luft.

An die Ahr und in die Eifel

Ich glaube, ich sollte mal in der unmittelbaren Umgebung von Bonn Urlaub machen… zumal es die Bahn uns seit dem letzten Fahrplanwechsel noch einfacher macht. Jetzt fahren auf der Ahrtalbahn auch schon die schicken neuen Talent-Züge. Die Ahrtalbahn scheint überhaupt eine sehr nette Strecke zu sein, auf der im Herbst auch Nostalgiezüge verkehren.

Und gleich dahinter beginnt die Eifel. Jede Menge Eifel-Infos haben Nordeifel.de und der Eifelführer.

Immerhin war ich schon mal einen Tag in Bad Münstereifel und beim nahegelegenen Radioteleskop des Max-Planck-Instituts für Radioastronomie in Bonn.

So, und bevor ich weiterlerne, schwinge ich mich eine Runde auf’s Fahrrad. Die Sonne scheint nämlich.
