Anniversary

I guess I should flip the page to honor the fifth anniversary of this weblog, which Jeff already pointed out yesterday. Five years, that’s half a decade – I didn’t think that I would keep this up for such a long time when I started writing five years ago. In fact, I didn’t think about the question of how long at all, since it began with me trying out Manila for fun.

I looked at all the January 25th entries through the years for fun (2000 (first entry ever), 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) and discovered a nice little recap I wrote last year. Back then I was looking for a job, but I was lucky and found one a couple of days later. This means that I’ve been at my “new” school for a whole year now (maybe it’s time to stop calling it my new school?).

If you’ve been reading this site for five years, thanks for your faithfulness! And if you only dropped by recently, thanks for reading (or looking at the photos or reading the travel journals or whatever it is you did!

I wonder where I’ll be in five more years, and whether this weblog will still exist then.

Mathematik

Sein bescheidenes Ziel: “I want to have the most exciting math class ever.” Vielleicht ist da was für mich dabei…

Physics

Here’s something pretty cool: Real-Time Visualization of the Quantum Mechanical Atomic Orbitals. You can download the shareware Atom in a Box from the site and read mor about it here (oder auf Deutsch hier). See some exampes here (at the bottom of the page linked above).

Traveling

In 2001 Polly Heininger biked across the USA from Pacific to Atlantic in 52 days. See photos and read about her trip here: Cross-country challenge. The long-distance tour was organized by America By Bike.
