Patchwork with a 3D Element

Today’s Friday Tutorial at the Cutting Table (Missouri Quilt Star Company) is The One Seam Flying Geese Quilt. Here’s the video. I like that the Flying Geese are three-dimensional, so to speak, which would certainly add some interest to a wall hanging.

This reminded me of this Textured Quilt Sampler from Sewn Up – Teresa Down Under which combines 25 different sewn textures like pintucks, pleats, gathers, shirring, smocking etc. This was posted three years ago, but today I finally took a closer look at Teresa’s weblog and discovered 41 fabric manipulation tutorials, which also includes a textured four-patch quilt tutorial.

I might have to make a wall hanging like this for our open-plan living-dining-kitchen area, which has a slight echo because of the high ceilings and wood/tile floors.
